So, it’s the beginning of a new year and many of us have made resolutions, goals or decisions to change something about ourselves. The truth, however, is that we won’t get very far if our mind set remains the same. One of which may be Fear. Fear can have such a crippling effect on us. We may have every intention to do or not to do something but will not make the first step because of complete fear. Fear of what people may say, fear of what people may think, fear of how we may look. Just fear, fear and more fear. If we really think about it, is anybody really ever completely fearless? The truth is, no. Every material thing that we enjoy in life today exists because someone decided to try even though he or she was filled with fear.
It’s okay to feel afraid and try anyways. The worst that can happen is that we may fail. And guess what? Failure is not the end. Failure is just a sign that you tried and is a stepping stone to success. Though you may have failed, you learnt something. Now you know what to change and how to improve moving forward. It’s also important to remember that failure is never a reason to quit. If everyone who ever tried something quit after failing the first time we would all be sitting in darkness, both literally and figuratively.
So feel the fear and still decide to step out boldly. Don’t be afraid to fail. Let’s make a daily decision to change our perspective. Remind yourself that F.E.A.R is simply a “False Expectation Appearing Real”. If you do try and F.A.I.L, you simply “Fell and Acquired Instant Learning.” (Dr. Nina “beautifulbrwnbabydol” Ellis-Hervey)
