Seasons

Seasons are constantly changing… It’s something that cannot be avoided.

It’s quite normal to have a period of adjustment and discomfort at the beginning of every new season.

As we navigate through the change, we notice things from the old season that we may need to get rid of and discover new things that we may need to pick up to survive and thrive in the new season.

The difference with natural seasonal changes and personal or spiritual ones is that in the natural, we all have to endure the same seasons and adjust accordingly, no one is exempt. And to an extent, we may even form communities and bonds over the shared process of change.

The difficulty with personal seasons is that they are never the same. Most times, we will not be in the same season as anyone else… maybe similar… but never exactly the same.

Knowing this, it’s important not to compare seasons. It’s important not to judge someone based on your current season because you have no context as to which season they’re in and what they may have had to let go of or even start to embrace.

Maybe what you have embraced someone else may have had to let go… and what someone else had to let go, you may now need to embrace. Depending on your specific context, this could be anything.

The point is to never compare seasons. Try to understand others in the context of their current season.

If there’s no personal relationship there, it may not be the most appropriate to confront someone in their current season based on your current perspective or convictions. Either you seek to understand by trying to build a relationship or just continue to focus on yourself and invest in your season.

Because remember… change will come again. What I may need to thrive now may not be what you need and that’s okay. The seasons will change again.
